Trails Morphing. Belonging is a photo and poetry series by Jenny Simmons; on exploration of identity and self.

Sparked by the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, Jenny reflected on her youth and upbringing in Lancaster, England by her white British mother and black Jamaican father.

A resident of Amsterdam, Jenny returned to her English hometown in the summer of 2021 after a one ver absence, finding herself in long-overdue conversations with friends and family concerning race, broader social constructs and sense of belonging.

The photos, each accompanied by a poem, were taken in Almere, the Dutch city that is twinned with Lancaster, by way of exploring duality across borders and finding connections to a home away from home.
